
Split pea soup
Split peas are an excellent source of complex carbs, potassium, vitamin K, protein and fiber. Fiber supports healthy gut microbiota, aiding in the digestion of certain foods.
Food Tip: Serve with grass-fed bison sliders and a side of avocado for a good source of protein and healthy fats.

Ingredients
- small red onion, sliced
- 1 tsp. organic garlic sea salt or 2 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
- 1 tsp. each sea salt and pepper
- 1 tsp. turmeric
- 3/4 cup roasted sweet potato
- 1.5 cups of dry yellow split peas, rinsed and drained
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp. mct oil
Directions
Rinse split peas and sweet potatoes thoroughly.
In a large pot, bring water to high heat and add sweet potato. Cook until soft. Add the onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Add the turmeric, yellow split peas. Stir, then bring the mixture to a boil. Lower heat to a gentle simmer, then cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the peas are very soft. Mash to desired consistency. Stir in the coconut milk, and add more spice to taste.
