FOOD
Food is one of the most critical determiners or our health. Since creation, Indigenous people have had a spiritual relationship to food. Food was always at the center of our culture. Today, we advocate for a healthy relationship to food and viewing it with spiritual reverence. A connection to food looks different for everyone depending on their health status, region, budget and what they have access to.
MOVEMENT
Movement is medicine. Across the Americas, Indigenous people have always engaged in sport and movement in ceremony and saw it as a way to give thanks for their body. These teachings can also be applied to modern modalities of movement.
SLEEP
Since time immemorial, Native people have regarded the night time as a sacred time for rest. Across Indigenous nations are many traditions and views towards sleep that teach about it as a very important aspect of our total health. In recent decades new data about the role of sleep in our health has emerged, supporting what Indigenous people have known all along.
